Tala Abangan Woods practices in the areas of business law and public finance.
In 1993, Ms. Woods graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After graduation she worked for Barnett Capital Advisors as an investment portfolio manager of personal trust accounts. As a portfolio manager, she gained experience analyzing the business and financial information of publicly-traded companies by reviewing company balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements. She managed the investment of funds in approximately 200 trust accounts and she was responsible for providing investment recommendations to clients and other portfolio managers. During her tenure at Barnett Capital Advisors, she earned the designation of a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Ms. Woods left her position with Barnett Capital Advisors in 1997 to attend law school at the University of Florida College of Law. During law school she worked two summers as a law clerk for Rogers Towers, P.A. Ms. Woods graduated from law school in December of 2000 and began her legal career in 2001 with Rogers Towers, P.A. as an associate in its business and tax law department. In 2007, Ms. Woods left Rogers Towers and became Of Counsel with Akerman Senterfitt. She left Akerman in 2009 to open her own law practice.
Ms. Woods currently serves as the Secretary of the Jacksonville Asian American Bar Association and has previously served as its Vice President. She worships and serves at Southside United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She also volunteers for such organizations as Team Focus Jacksonville, a mentoring program for fatherless boys, and Family Promise Jacksonville, an interfaith hospitality network which provides temporary housing for homeless families. She is the mother of two children, ages 3 and 5, and wife to husband, Benjy.
